Privacy policy

How Waridi Events collects, uses and protects personal information, and the choices you have.

Who we are

Waridi Events Limited is a professional conference organiser based at TuWork Park, Olenguruone Avenue, Nairobi (P.O. Box 41393–00100, Nairobi). We are registered with the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner in Kenya and handle personal data in line with the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019. In this policy, “we” and “us” mean Waridi Events Limited.

What we collect

How we use it

We rely on your consent, on the need to carry out a contract with you or your organisation, on our legal obligations, and on our legitimate interest in running and improving our business. We do not sell personal information.

Events we organise for clients

When we manage an event on behalf of a client, the client usually decides what delegate information is collected and why. In that case we process the information on the client’s instructions, and the client’s own privacy notice also applies.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only where needed to deliver our services: with venues, hotels, airlines, transport and other suppliers involved in an event; with registration, payment and communication platforms; with our sister companies when they provide services at an event; with government authorities for visas and protocol; and with professional advisers. Each receives only what it needs.

Transfers outside Kenya

Some of our service providers, including website hosting, email and analytics providers, store information outside Kenya. Where this happens, we use providers that protect it to a standard consistent with the Kenya Data Protection Act.

Cookies, analytics and advertising

When you first visit, we ask whether you accept cookies. Only if you accept do we use Google Analytics, Google Ads and the LinkedIn Insight Tag to measure visits, see which pages and adverts are useful, and show relevant adverts on Google and LinkedIn. These tools use cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, opt out of Google Analytics with Google’s browser add-on, and manage advertising preferences in your Google and LinkedIn account settings. The site still works if you decline or block cookies.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry information for up to two years after our last contact, event information for as long as needed to deliver the event and close its accounts, and financial records for the period required by Kenyan tax law. After that, we delete or anonymise it.

How we protect it

We limit access to the people who need it, use secure, password-protected systems, and require our suppliers to keep information confidential and secure.

Your rights

Under the Kenya Data Protection Act you can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, object to or restrict how we use it, receive a copy in a portable format, and withdraw your consent at any time. To do any of these, email hello@waridievents.com. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner at www.odpc.go.ke.

Children

Our website and services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children, except where a client’s event includes young participants and their parent or guardian provides it.
