The Alliance for African Partnership Launch was held from the 18th July to 21st July 2017 at Hyatt Regency, at the Kilimanjaro in Dar es Salaam Tanzania. The event host was Michigan State University ( MSU)The Launch hosted guests from various countries with the aim to provide exposure and awareness on the objectives and activities of the AAP to a diverse group of African organizations.
The event also provided an opportunity for extensive networking and development of new activities consistent with the mandates of AAP, MSU, UDSM and RUFORUM.
The overall event theme was “Putting vision into action together ”. Alliance for African Partnership Launch had an interesting mix of sessions going over the four days. They included main plenary sessions, breakout sessions, a cocktail on the first day evening and dinner on the evening of the second day.
A highlight of the cocktail was the guests getting to interact with the grantees work through project posters that were set up in the cocktail space. It wasn’t all work and no play at this conference, as guests were treated to a Swahili themed dinner and a great band performance that saw most of the guests put on their dancing shoes and dance to amazing rhythms.
Alliance for African Partnership Launch planning went over three months and was a destination event. Our team was led by Wanjiku Kandie, Eunice Kangai and Winnie Muthoni who rallied the Waridi Events team along with the vendors to successfully design, plan and execute AAP Launch.
